The Deck of Guilty Pleasures

The Deck of Guilty Pleasures

By Alayna Kunitake

Feeling guilty is inevitable (unless you’re Ted Bundy or something, in which case, yikes). I’d like to think it’s what makes us ‘good humans’, full of social conscience and the like. With that being said, there’s no denying it’s still a pain in the arse.

But if losing your humanity is not on the cards, how does one combat the overwhelming sensation of guilt? By trading it in for its friendlier cousin, of course— a good ol’ guilty pleasure. The lesser of two evils, if you will. Because if feeling guilty gives us soul (I for one, opt for that beating heart) we might as well choose how to spend it wisely.

So, the next time you don’t crack that brief or kick that #careergoal, draw a card from the deck and swap that heavy feeling of remorse for something a little more forgiving instead.

*On really tough days, draw 4.
