Pitching Gamer Guide: The Client Quest

If yes, you’re up for a treat. If not, get into gaming. It’s 2020.

Congratulations. You have completed the first step of the quest.

You visit the New Biz and you’re briefed. Think of the New Biz team as your NPCs (Non-Player Characters) and every time you move forward in your quest try to visit them, you might get some minor rewards like a nod of approval, a hi-five, a pat on the back, and if you’re lucky you might get the pinnacle reward – lunch.

Rule #1 of this quest step. Don’t fuck around with this quest step. Timing is everything.

Don’t get imaginative and go around splashing first thoughts like you’re some sort of creative elf that solves problems with magic. First. Think.

Finding an awesome truth is hard. What’s harder, is getting an awesome point of view about that truth.

Think about the problem you were given in the brief. Think about the coolest problem you can solve. Think about how with this, you can bring something new to the category.

Please do ‘The Search’. If it’s been done, it’s done. Get used to it. Don’t be like those fools that do it for the pitch. Show your good creative pedigree.

Like in a game, don’t cheat. You can easily get banned and unlike in games, you can’t change your player name in reality.

So, you got something, huh? Pretty good. This quest step is like going for 100 headshots and 350 kills in any game. Not easy. Not easy at all. But at the end of it, you will land headshots like John Wick, like the fucking Jack Reacher, like the mofo James Bond, like all the Jacks and Johns of every Jack and John movie.

This does get the attention of your NPCs. So, show your training. Show them how that idea is sharpening like a wolf’s silver bullet.

The quest completion is about getting your idea in the right place and getting everyone on board. Remember the New Biz team visits? If you get this step right, you might get that sweet pinnacle reward – the amazing executive lunch.

Before you go killing big fuck-off enemies in any game, you need to craft your things. Get your idea, your executions, and your references looking good. Make them look a trillion dollars. Make them look like a 3 Michelin Star dinner. Make them look like they have no fat in it. Everything is in the right place.

Craft the shit out of it. Can’t be any clearer.

Pitch day is full of emotions. You are about to get your sweet reward if you play your cards right. You have worked harder than everyone. You have put hours and hours of grinding in for this piece of loot. Go for it. Those headshots aren’t for nothing. Aim for the head, there is no bullet drop rate.

Slay that dragon, bitch!

This is the part about the sweet reward that nobody tells you. It turns out, that after grinding for many weapons in different games, sometimes the shiny and beautiful reward – is shit.

In any case. You win. Go and celebrate.

There is always another quest on the horizon.
