The Team Break-Up Trust Test

The Team Break-Up Trust Test

By Josh Brown, Art Director at DDB Melbourne and Shaun McFarlane, Copywriter at Special Group

We were creative partners, amigos, compadres. We were each other's firsts, and because of that, we did a lot of growing up together. We learned each other’s strengths and weaknesses, and grew to complement each other's skillsets.

The result was a creatively co-dependent relationship. Success.

But then what felt like the unthinkable, happened. After three years together it was time to split. Our team of two became two teams of one and the need for self-promotion suddenly became real.

After setting up our new Squarespace URLs and sharing work files, the next step was to sort our website bios. For our entire professional careers, every thought we'd had started with 'we' which meant we kind of sucked writing about ourselves.

Then it hit us.

Who else would be better suited to write our bios, than each other?

We’d been through a break-up. Could we trust one other, to promote one another? We took the plunge. We exchanged Squarespace passwords, wrote about each other, and now we’re sharing this with you, Gabberish readers—before we dare to read it ourselves.

Presenting the Team Break-Up Trust Test, to you, and finally, to each other.
